The Air Span II was one of Nike’s first shoes to utilize Footbridge technology, consisting of rigid midfoot strips to prevent overpronation. Offering a structured and developed upper of multiple leather overlays to provide additional support in high-stress areas, redundant areas are swapped out for a lightweight, breathable nylon mesh. The tongue is firm yet padded - impervious to the “crooked tongues” that many shoes of the era suffered from. Stepping out of the shadow of its Air Max siblings, the low-profile encapsulated Air midsole convincingly provides effective cushioning. The waffle tread pattern on the forefoot is a proven choice for sure-footed grip.
